Acceptable use policy.
Use the site to find, check and cite. Do not use it to spam, scrape, mislead or attack.
This policy applies to everyone who uses policyandcompliance.com, and to everyone who sends us anything through it or buys anything on it: forms, subscriptions, listings, profiles, press releases, articles and sponsored placements (together, the "Services"). It is part of our Terms, published by AllyMatter Inc. It protects readers, listed firms, advertisers and the site itself from unethical, irresponsible and illegal activity.
Fair use
Read, search, quote and link as much as you like. Automated access must be reasonable, follow robots.txt and leave the site usable for everyone else. If your use is excessive, we may limit it. We oppose abuse, discrimination and anything that harms or disadvantages a group, a person or a resource, and we expect the same of everyone who uses the Services.
Accountability
If you buy or manage a listing, profile, press release or placement, you are responsible for what is published under it and for anyone who uses it with your permission, or because you did not take reasonable care to secure it. Complaints about a listing or placement go to the contact named on the account.
What is not allowed
Infringing or unlawful material
The Services must not be used to send, publish or store material that breaks the law, including material protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret or another right used without permission, and material that is obscene, defamatory, threatening or in breach of export control law. You are responsible for what you send us and for having the right to publish it.
Spam and harvesting
The Services must not be used to send unsolicited bulk or commercial messages in breach of the law where you are ("spam"). This includes:
- harvesting email addresses, phone numbers or names from the directory or any other page to contact firms or people who did not ask to hear from you;
- subscribing someone else's email address to any of our lists without their permission; our lists are confirmed opt-in; and
- using lists bought from others to reach readers or firms through the site.
Misleading listings and placements
You must not:
- claim, edit or pay for a listing for an organization you do not represent;
- publish credentials, accreditations, client claims, prices or results that are false or that you cannot show;
- imply that Policy & Compliance has verified, approved, ranked or recommended you, or use our name, logo or the words Verified or Website checked other than as shown on your own listing; or
- impersonate AllyMatter Inc, Policy & Compliance or any other person or firm, or claim a business relationship with us that does not exist.
Attacks and abuse
The Services must not be used to:
- access any account, system or data you are not authorized to access, or try to;
- introduce viruses or malicious code, or probe, scan, flood or overload the site or its forms, including denial-of-service attacks;
- get around rate limits, spam checks or other protections;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against any group or person, including through hate speech; or
- publish content that incites or depicts violence, sexually exploits children, or threatens anyone's health or safety.
Other prohibited activity
- Obtaining, or trying to obtain, paid Services without paying.
- Breaking consumer protection law, or anyone's privacy.
- Using the Services in connection with illegal gambling, terrorism, narcotics trafficking, arms trafficking, or weapons of mass destruction, or with anyone who supports those activities.
What happens if this policy is broken
We may remove material, block access to the site or its forms, or end a listing, profile, press release or placement, without notice. To the extent the law allows, there is no refund or credit for Services ended because this policy was broken. Where the law requires it, we may report the matter to the authorities.
About this policy
This is not a complete list of what we consider unacceptable. We may change this policy by publishing a revised version here. A revised version applies from the earlier of the date you next use the Services after it is published, or 30 days after it is published.
